Green Oklahoma has been asking Oklahoma candidates where they stand on issues we feel are important to our readers. We hope these interviews will help our readers to make informed choices this election season.

Donald Cole Gallup is a republican running for State Representative in the State House District #25. We got the chance to ask him a few questions and here are his answers.

GO: First off, please tell us a little bit about yourself.

Gallup: (Campaign Bio) Donald Cole Gallup’s ancestors migrated to Oklahoma generations ago and were fundamental to the formation of our great state. The pioneering self-sufficient ideals from Oklahoma’s culture are practically engrained in his DNA. While his roots are humble and he did not have a lot of material wealth growing up, he managed to serve as an example of what determination and hard work can accomplish.

He joined the Navy at the age of 19 where he served in three military operations: Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He circumnavigated the globe, earned enough credits for an associate’s degree, and self-published a book of poetry. After leaving the Navy he completed his Bachelors of Science in a year and a half, and a Master’s of Science two years later.

He also sculpted the Evolution of the American West in Pauls Valley Oklahoma, which was a sandstone sculpture of monumental portions, and created many works of art for local patrons that capture the heart
and soul of our great state.

He is currently working on his PhD in Psychology, serves as the vice-president for Ada Lodge #119, serves in the American Legion, and is on the Vestry Board for his local church.

He is married to Kaisa of North Dakota, and they have a 20 month old son named Jabe Atticus Gallup. He enjoys spending time with his family, helping to improve his community and raising their Newfoundland dogs.

Mr. Gallup is politically inspired from traditional old right ideology. He believes in personal responsibility, that liberty is the only path to a just society where the people with the greatest ability are free to pursue their goals and thus push the world forward, and that no one should pay penance for their virtues or the virtues of their ancestors.

GO: Why did you decide to run for state representative?

Gallup: I decided to run because enough people asked me to. They like my values, my history, and what I stand for.

GO: If elected what would you do, if anything, about current pollution issues?

Gallup: I would lower corporate taxes and encourage corporations to stay in America where they have to abide by our environmental legislation instead of the lack of legislation in the third world, in the third world they are doing global damage without any repercussions.

GO: What about energy issues?

Gallup: I personally love green energy, and cannot wait until it becomes competitive with oil and coal.

GO: What are your views on climate change?

Gallup: The world is getting warmer every day and there is no denying it, we just had the warmest March since the 1830’s. As a result we are going to have some serious changes in different regions, and we must individually prepare for that.

GO: And lastly, why do you think our readers should vote for you?

Gallup: If you are looking for a candidate who is going to take a commonsense view of the issues, and still strive to insure that you have the maximum level of personal liberty possible, I am your man.

When you were a child you were told to pick up you room, and to maintain a clean house; the globe is a further extension of our home, and just like we should not live in squalor in our homes we should not turn our planet into squalor. That is why I support a volunteerism society, that does all it can to help its fellow human being and every other living and nonliving thing on this planet. That is why I recycle, compost, and drive a 4 cylinder engine car as opposed to some gas guzzler. The current situation may be too big for just one person to change, but imagine if we all did our little part to make this a better place.
