Featured Business: Bouncing Woolies

Bouncing Woolies is a locally owned business that was started by cloth diapering mom, Shauna. She started Bouncing Woolies because the product can help everyone as it “saves money, time and energy. After all, everyone does laundry!” We got the chance to talk to Shauna about Bouncing Woolies, here is what she had to say.

Shauna, Owner of Bouncing Woolies

GO: Why did you decide to start Bouncing Woolies?
Shauna: I was a cloth diapering mom who wanted a natural way to soften diapers and clothes. I needed an alternative so our diapers wouldn’t repel moisture.

GO: Why is it important to you that your business is eco-friendly?
Shauna: I believe every little bit we can do to conserve our environment adds up. Not only is our product natural, compostable, and biodegradable, our packaging and shipping materials are also reusable, compostable, and biodegradable.

GO: What’s the best advice you have gotten about going green?
Shauna: I was one who was very hesitant regarding cloth diapers. I had the idea that it would be nasty and unsanitary. I was told that I should just try it, that it wouldn’t be that bad. After a lot of research (and coaxing my husband who was less than thrilled), we decided to go green for our children. It was most definitely worth it! In a nutshell, the best advice was not only to go green to help the environment, but to go green for our children and family. It’s healthier.

GO: Why do you feel it’s important to support locally owned businesses?
Shauna: Supporting local supports families not only in the US, but in Oklahoma. Supporting our local economy is huge! When you purchase from our little store, you’re helping put food on our table and clothes on our children. You’re helping with tax dollars being put back into our state.

GO: What is your favorite thing to do in Oklahoma?
Shauna: I love seeking out other locally owned businesses at craft fairs an other events. Oklahoma has some amazing treasures!

GO: Other than your own business, what is your favorite eco-friendly business in Oklahoma?
Shauna: Green Bambino in Oklahoma City, definitely.

Shauna was kind enough to off a coupon code for Bouncing Woolies for Green Oklahoma’s readers. Just use the code GreenOK and get 15% off any order of $15 or more. The coupon expires on 10/31/12.
