Looking for a great local restaurant in the OKC and Norman areas? Check out Scratch Norman or Paseo. They are committed to great food and craft cocktails.

Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails is a restaurant that started in Norman, Oklahoma and now also has a second location in the Paseo district in Oklahoma City.
They stay true to their name Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails. Everything from the bread to the mayonnaise is made from scratch. This is true for their cocktails as well. The bartenders make syrups, liqueurs, tinctures and more from scratch to give you the best cocktail experience. And their cocktail menu is always changing with great seasonal drinks that you won’t want to miss.
Executive chef Jacque Methvin creates amazing dishes that seem to only get better each time you visit. They have a wide range of menu items and often incorporate local ingredients. They are also a great choice for those looking for more vegan and vegetarian options.

Talking to owner Brady Sexton about his motive for starting Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails shows how much care he wants to be put into the food and drinks served at Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails.
“I always wanted to have a restaurant of my own and make everything from scratch, the right way. The concept started with the bar, making cocktails with fresh-squeezed juices and house-made syrups, and using old-school formulas.”
Another thing Scratch Norman and Paseo are known for is their brunch. I recommend getting a mimosa made with fresh squeezed orange juice and the Fried Chicken Biscuit.

It’s fried chicken on top of a homemade biscuit covered in maple-chipotle gravy and topped with fried onions. I’m usually a waffle person when it comes to brunch, and they have one of those as well that is excellent, but you can’t beat this fried chicken biscuit.
Scratch also has a wonderful Happy Hour from 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. every day. You can get great $5 drinks and some of the appetizers are half price. My favorite appetizer is the spinach dip.
And if you are gluten-free they have many great options. They also have vegetarian and vegan options available. Plus a great kids menu so the whole family will enjoy their visit.
Sexton is not only passionate about food and good cocktails, but he also cares about our local community. When asked why it’s important to support local businesses he said,
“The multiplier effect in economics is the #1 factor for me. Every dollar spent locally basically “bounces” around the local economy and becomes worth more and more. A dollar spent that leaves the local economy goes straight to a giant corporation.”

I totally agree. Supporting great local businesses here in Oklahoma, like Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails, is a great way for us to keep improving our own communities.
I also feel that you get a better overall experience when you go to a locally owned restaurant than a big chain. That business is apart of the community and they know the community better than any chain can.
Next time you are in Norman or Paseo be sure to stop by Scratch Kitchen & Cocktails and check out their amazing cocktails and delicious food. It’s a great place for date night or a fun night out with some friends. You won’t be disappointed.
